1.
Prepare & Grind the Magic Mushrooms
As with every magic mushroom recipe, the first step is deciding which dosage you want to take. A great beginner's dose is 2g of dried magic mushrooms with average potency. If you have no idea which dosage you should take, check out our dosage calculator to find the perfect amount for you.Once you have decided on the dosage, grind the mushrooms into a fine powder. It's best to grind them as fine as possible so you won't even notice there are mushrooms in your smoothie. For a smoothie, you can use any amount, but if you use more than 5g of dried magic mushrooms, you should slightly adjust the ingredients by adding more liquid or fruits for your smoothie to stay smooth and creamy; otherwise, it could become very thick.💡Use our Magic Mushroom Dosage Calculator! -
2.
Intensify the Experience with Lemon Tek (Optional)
If you want, you can soak your mushroom powder in lemon or orange juice for 15–20 minutes, a method known as Lemon Tek. It's a common technique for a slightly stronger but shorter trip and also helps to reduce nausea. For detailed instructions, check out our full Lemon Tek Recipe. This method is great to combine with a fruit smoothie since the lemon juice won't affect the taste and fits very well with other fruits. Orange juice will probably taste even better. -
3.
Select Fruits to Mask the Taste
Choose which fruits you want to use. Using berries and bananas is my personal favorite. You can basically add any fruit you want, like pineapples, mangos, melons, or even avocados. However, adding banana is not only great for taste but also good because it helps with nausea by breaking down the parts of the mushrooms that are hard to digest. This breakdown allows the stomach to digest the mushrooms better. That's why I recommend always using bananas in your smoothie. Learn more about why mushrooms are hard to digest. If you don't like bananas, you can also use kiwis or avocado, as they have a similar effect on the mushrooms. They are not quite as good as bananas, but still a great alternative. -
4.
Blend the Ingredients
First, add yogurt and water (or milk) to your blender and mix it for 10–15 seconds, so you have a liquid base that the fruits can perfectly blend into. Then, add your fruits and honey (if you like it sweeter) and blend until you have a smooth mixture without any visible pieces. You can also skip the yogurt, but that will lead to a less creamy smoothie. If your smoothie is still too thick for your liking, just add a little bit more water or milk. Keep in mind that you still have to add the mushroom powder, which will make the smoothie even thicker. -
5.
Mix in the Shroom Powder
Next, you can add your plain mushroom powder or your lemon-soaked mushroom mixture to the blender. Mix it for another 30 seconds to distribute everything evenly throughout the smoothie. This ensures there are no big clumps, and you basically won't notice there are any mushrooms in there at all.If your smoothie is still very thick, just add more water or milk for a smoother texture so it's easier to drink. -
6.
Add Toppings & Serve (Optional)
You can drink the smoothie right away or start to further decorate it by adding whipped cream on top, syrup, or sprinkles. Just keep in mind that heavy dairy products like whipped cream can be harder to digest for some people. If you have a sensitive stomach, you might want to opt for a lighter topping, such as a dusting of cocoa powder, some crushed nuts, or a few cacao nibs. This adds a nice crunch and flavor without weighing you down before the effects kick in.It's best to consume the smoothie right away and not store it for longer than a few hours, since the active component of the mushrooms will start to break down. If you are looking for a method to store your mushrooms for longer, I recommend making Magic Mushroom Chocolate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, putting shrooms in a smoothie is one of the most effective ways to consume them. Blending the dried mushrooms with fruits like bananas and berries completely masks the earthy taste. Additionally, the enzymes in the fruit help break down the hard-to-digest chitin, significantly reducing stomach discomfort compared to eating raw shrooms.
To make a shroom smoothie, simply blend your dose of dried mushrooms with liquid and fruit. Start by grinding the mushrooms into a powder. Then, add a ripe banana, frozen berries, yogurt, and milk to the blender. Mix until smooth to create a tasty drink that masks the flavor entirely.
Yes, you can blend shrooms directly into a smoothie. It is actually recommended to grind them into a fine powder before adding the other ingredients to ensure even distribution. Blending does not damage the psilocybin, and the mechanical breakdown helps your stomach absorb the active compounds faster and more easily.
Typically, a shroom smoothie takes 20 to 45 minutes to kick in. Because the mushrooms are ground into a fine powder and suspended in liquid, your body can absorb the psilocybin faster than if you ate whole dried stems. If combined with Lemon Tek, the effects can begin as quickly as 15 minutes.
The best magic mushroom smoothie recipe is the Banana-Berry blend. Use one ripe banana for creaminess and digestion, plus a handful of frozen berries to effectively hide the earthy taste. Blend everything with your mushroom powder and yogurt for the perfect balance of flavor and potency.
