The Starter Kit📦

1. Who Is the Starter Kit Suitable For and What Kind of Mushrooms Can Be Grown?
The Starter Kit is perfect for people of every skill level (beginners, intermediates, or advanced) who want large amounts of mushrooms in a short time with manageable effort and easy instructions.
The Starter Kit can be used to grow a wide variety of mushrooms, including P. cubensis, P. cyanescens, and several medicinal and gourmet species.
Keep in mind, however, that P. cyanescens and many medicinal or gourmet varieties may require different substrates than P. cubensis.
Note: If you've grown weed before, this won't be much more difficult.
2. How Much Work Effort Can I Expect?
Very little! Growing mushrooms with our kits is mostly a waiting game. If everything goes smoothly, you’ll spend about 2 hours per cycle on active tasks. These include simple steps like cooking the rice, preparing the coco coir, harvesting, and drying your mushrooms.
The actual time may vary depending on factors like the size of your flush and the number of harvests.
The more mushrooms you grow, the more you'll have to process. Still, it's an easy and rewarding experience with minimal daily effort.
3. How Cost Effective Is the Starter Kit?
The Starter Kit is one of the most cost-effective ways to grow your own mushrooms. It includes long lasting materials and essential tools such as a monotub, still air box, and incubation chamber, so there is no need to purchase separate equipment.
With multiple successful grows, your cost per gram of dried mushrooms can drop to just a few cents. It’s a smart long term investment for anyone interested in regular cultivation.
4. How Reliable Is This Method and What Are the Chances of Success?
This method works great as the Starter Kit was designed based on the combined experience of many growers and uses proven techniques such as monotubs and still air boxes, which are trusted by cultivators around the world.
It’s especially effective with P. cubensis, like Golden Teacher, a beginner-friendly strain known for its resilience against contamination, temperature fluctuations, and common beginner mistakes.
Even if you're experiencing problems with contamination, don't worry. There are several ways to deal with it. That's why we created an article especially for Starter Kit users to help them increase their chances of success: 7 Ways to Prevent Contamination Using the Starter Kit.
Note: Success rates can vary depending on the equipment used. For example, using a pressure cooker instead of a steam bath can significantly improve sterilization and increase your chances of success.
5. How Sustainable Is the Starter Kit?
Apart from some packaging materials, almost everything in the kit is reusable. The delivery box is made from 80% recycled cardboard. Most components such as mason jars, monotub, liner, and scalpel can be used again with proper cleaning and care.
This means you can grow mushrooms repeatedly without needing to replace key parts, making it an environmentally friendly choice.
Growing Mushrooms🍃

6. Which Mushroom Strains Are Best for Beginners?
For mushrooms that include “magic,” I recommend P. cubensis strains such as Golden Teacher, B+, or Ecuadorian. These are extremely beginner friendly because they are resistant to contamination and not very demanding when it comes to temperature and substrate conditions.
They offer a great balance of ease and reliability for first-time growers.
7. What Temperature and Humidity Do Different Strains Need?
The optimal temperature range for most P. cubensis strains is between 21°C and 26°C (70°F to 79°F), with around 24°C(75°F) being ideal. Temperatures above 28°C (82°F) or below 19°C (66°F) are less ideal and can significantly slow down growth.
The optimal humidity for these mushrooms is above 90%. But don’t worry, you don’t need to measure humidity precisely. If your substrate has the correct field capacity, it will hold enough water to maintain the proper humidity for your mushrooms.
8. How Much Light Do Mushrooms Need?
Light is not very important for growing mushrooms. Its main benefit is providing a direction for the mushrooms to grow toward. However, direct sunlight should be avoided because it can warm up and dry out your substrate.
My advice is to place your monotub somewhere with indirect light, and you will be fine.
9. How Long Does It Take From Spores to First Harvest?
The time from spores to first harvest depends on several factors such as genetics which can affect how quickly your mycelium and mushrooms grow, temperature since too low temperatures slow down growth, and the strain because some grow faster than others.
Under normal conditions if everything goes well you can expect your first mushrooms to be ready for harvest in about 2 months.
10. What Is the Expected Yield of the Starter Kit?
Factors such as genetics, strain, substrate, and grain to substrate ratio can affect the yield. However, by following the tutorial instructions and with several flushes, you can expect to harvest up to 100 grams (3.5 oz.) of dried mushrooms.

Problems & Support🛠️

16. Why Hasn’t My Grow Kit Shown Any Signs of Colonization After Two Weeks?
1. First, check the temperature. As mentioned above, temperature plays a big role in the speed of colonization.
2. Next, inspect the appearance. If you see any green, black, pink, or yellow colors, it is most likely a sign of contamination.
3. Then, check the smell. If it smells foul, sour, rotten, or unusually sweet, that is also a strong indicator of contamination.
If everything looks and smells normal but nothing is happening, feel free to contact our experts on Discord for help.
17. What Should I Do If I See Mold (Green Black or Pink) on My Substrate?
If your grain or substrate is contaminated, unfortunately there is not much you can do other than dispose of it. Do not open a contaminated grain jar or container inside your home, as the mold can release spores into the air and affect future cultivation attempts.
Simply toss it out safely. Do not worry, the mason jars can still be reused. Just clean them thoroughly with hot water and soap, and if you like, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol.
18. How Can I Tell If My Kit Is Too Wet or Too Dry and How Do I Adjust Humidity?
You should see a light layer of moisture running down the walls of the monotub. If there is no moisture, the field capacity may not have been correct. But do not worry, you can fix it by using a spray bottle to lightly mist the walls of the tub.
If there is too much moisture and water is dripping excessively from the lid, use a clean paper towel to carefully wipe away the excess water from the lid.
19. My Temperature Is Too High or Too Low, What Can I Do?
If your temperature is between 21-26°C (70-79°F), you are in the ideal range. If the temperature is too high, there is not much you can do except move the kit to a cooler place like a basement. If the temperature is too low, consider using a heating mat made for mushroom cultivation to keep the conditions stable.
20. I Have Another Problem or Question. What Can I Do?
If you are facing a different issue or have any other questions, whether about growing or related topics, feel free to reach out on our Discord server. Our experts and fellow growers are always happy to help and share their experience.
Safety & Legality🔒

21. Is It Legal to Order the Starter Kit or Spores?
The Starter Kit is completely legal because it only contains standard materials and spores. The spores are legal since they don´t contain any psilocybine (active ingredient) like the mushrooms themselves.
However, please check your local laws, as regulations may vary depending on your location.
22. Is It Safe to Eat Mushrooms I Grow Myself?
There is no better way to know what you’re consuming than growing your own mushrooms. You control the strain, know the age, and the growing process.
Plus, you avoid the risk of buying mushrooms that may be mixed with other substances, commonly referred to as laced mushrooms.
23. Is It Legal to Grow Mushrooms?
