1. Non-Toxic (Food Gradable): Your desiccant has to be food gradable and must not be toxic like desiccant packs that are made with chobalt chloride, also know as indicator beats in desiccant packs, who can change color. This is the most important aspect when it comes to drying your mushrooms with desiccant packs
2. Reusable: Many desiccant are only made for one time use, which is not very useful for drying mushrooms, as you might need to dry mushrooms over and over again.
3. High Temperatur Resistant: In order to be used again, they have to be reactiveted in the oven at 90°C for at least 90 minutes. Several Desiccants cannot withstand high temperatures and tend to melt.
4. Non-Woven Fabric: The Non-Woven fabric case is important because it allows moisture to enter the dessicant inside more quickly than for example Paper or composite fil casings. The quicker the drying, the less chance for mold and loosing potency.
